Esoteric route watch – another in an occasional series

Heathrow-Brussels? Is this in any sense an esoteric route? Well perhaps not, but what is interesting is that United Airlines announced at the end of July they were to start flying a daily rotation this winter between the two airports, and American Airlines have just announced that they are following suit. What gives? Well, apparently it’s all about saving slots at Heathrow. Travelblog Royal Bret Snyder (the “cranky flyer” – his blog is well worth a look, if a little US-centric) explains it all here. From the travelling public’s point of view it means not so much, unless you want try out a B777 or compare and contrast the two US carriers to see if everything they say about less-than-stellar service is true.
